ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Financial Offer, the Legal Counsel will advise the legal team, executive team, and various business units on matters within a fast-growing, design-driven global lifestyle brand headquartered in Vancouver. A DAY IN THE LIFE

On a day-to-day basis, the Legal Counsel will:

  • Facilitate all legal matters arising primarily on sales, direct-to-consumer (retail & eCommerce), retail leasing, employment law, corporate law, intellectual property, brand protection, licensing and collaborations and regulations for sales in over 90 countries.
  • Support and connect global office networks in Vancouver, Shanghai, and London.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, while managing legal matters related to complex existing relationships.
  • Work closely with the Product Team to negotiate collaborations and licensing agreements.
  • Advise internal business units on day-to-day domestic and international matters.
  • Collaborate with internal legal team while managing a network of first class global external counsel and other non-legal vendors.
  • Design and oversee legal operations process.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • 4+ years of legal experience in a top tier firm or organization, with a focus on intellectual property and licensing matters.
  • Qualified to practice law in Canada with a J.D. or LL.B.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives autonomously and deliver advice in practical, commercial and solution-oriented terms.
  • Working experience in corporate, commercial, employment M&A or real estate.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills accompanied by a high EQ.
  • Drive and willingness to take ownership of legal tasks as well as additional non-legal business duties as needed.

Preferred:

  • Have demonstrable experience in corporate/commercial law and intellectual property/licensing.
  • Have experience working in an in-house legal environment.
  • Have experience and an interest in the fashion, retail or consumer products industries.
  • Show a track record of flourishing in high-growth/dynamic environments.

YOUR JOURNEY WITH HERSCHEL SUPPLY

The annual salary for this role falls within the range of $140,000-$175,000 CAD. We welcome diverse talents, and if you don't feel like you tick all the boxes yet in terms of experience, we'll consider adjusting the scope of work and salary range to align with your individual strengths.
