The DTC Planning Manager leads the end-to-end planning function for our eCommerce business and retail stores. This role ensures inventory investment aligns to sales, margin, and brand goals; supports forecasts, open-to-buy, replenishment & allocation, and drives actionable insights across cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in women’s apparel and has a proven history of building planning tools and analytical models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting & Financial Planning:
  • Own pre-season and in-season forecasting for sales, margin, and inventory across eCommerce and retail stores
  • Manage and optimize the DTC Open-to-Buy (OTB), ensuring inventory positions support both revenue goals and channel needs
  • Own the quarterly buy process for DTC, collaborating with Merchandising & Supply Planning
  • Conduct hindsight analysis on product, size, and channel performance to refine future buys
  • Manage assortments for company-wide promotional events, markdown cadence, and pricing; optimizing sell-through and margin for end-of-life inventory
  • Inventory / Assortment / Replenishment:
  • Monitor key inventory health metrics: WOS, on order, on-hand, sell-through, overstock and under-stock risk
  • Own replenishment strategy across eCommerce and retail stores to maximize availability while minimizing excess
  • Develop replenishment models for core styles and key items
  • Optimize size curves for buys, replenishment, and allocation to improve full-price sell-through and reduce markdown exposure
  • Coordinate with supply chain to ensure delivery timelines, vendor lead-times, and shipment accuracy
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Own weekly DTC reporting dashboards and sales recaps, providing clear insights into performance, inventory, and trends to guide merchandising, planning, and leadership decisions
  • Collaborate with Buying, eCommerce, Retail, Sales, and Production teams to align the timing of reorders and store allocations with company priorities, optimizing inventory flow, sell-through, and margin performance across all channels
  • Process Improvement, Tools & Reporting:
  • Build custom planning tools and reporting frameworks (e.g., inventory flows, forecasting templates, size curve models, WOS tools, event recaps)
  • Enhance data visibility by partnering with cross-functional partners & IT team to automate manual processes and implement scalable, self-serve reporting
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in planning; influence enhancements or implementations of new planning processes, systems, and reports
  • Identify process improvement opportunities: forecasting accuracy, lead-time reduction, inventory optimization, markdown reduction

Typical Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of merchandise planning, demand planning, or inventory management — preferably in fashion apparel for an omni-channel business
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to work with large data sets, build models, do scenario planning, identify trends
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, IF formulas) and familiarity with planning tools/ERP/BI systems
  • Strong business acumen: understand retail math, margin, stock turn, markdown logic, inventory cost
  • Comprehensive understanding of apparel life cycles, fashion newness, size curves, fit behavior, and consumer trends
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills: must work with Merchandising, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business with shifting priorities and tight timelines
  • Leadership and process-improvement mindset
  • A strong collaborator with the ability to both lead discussions and support others to achieve shared results
