JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Associate will be responsible for working together with the current AR Trade Deductions Specialist and AP Specialist to assist in shared duties. This hybrid role will support both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, with a special emphasis on managing customer deductions and resolving disputes. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of general accounting principles, a collaborative attitude, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will have natural food & beverage CPG industry experience, as well as previous responsibility in a high-growth environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payment.
  • Investigate and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, and short payments.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to validate claims and support resolution.
  • Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and distribute aging reports and collections summaries.

Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, ensuring proper coding and approvals.
  • Manage payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wires.
  • Maintain vendor files and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist in month-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations.

General Accounting Support:

  • Assist with journal entries and account reconciliations as needed.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting role (internships included).
  • Strong understanding of AP and AR functions; experience with deduction dispute resolution is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
